Areas brings the Dutch La Place catering concept to France
Fresh, in-season produce is extremely popular in the Netherlands. With more than 250 outlets in towns, shopping centers, stations, airports, exhibition centres and sports and leisure venues, La Place is perfectly in tune with the expectations of today’s consumers who are increasingly attentive with regard to the freshness and authenticity of food products.
La Place offers consumers a wide range of products that are presented at food-stalls with marketplace-type displays and prepared on-the-spot in front of them; hot drinks, viennoiseries, pasta dishes, sandwiches, pizzas, focaccias, salads, grilled foods, snacks, desserts, smoothies and juices.
By choosing La Place, Areas has taken up the challenge of installing a brand in highly frequented transport hubs that demands a very specific savoir-faire regarding how food is prepared and served.
Alexandre de Palmas, Chief Executive Officer of Areas France and Northern Europe said, “We are pleased to introduce La Place in France and thus be able to offer an innovative catering alternative to travelers looking for fresh, quality food. In the travel catering segment, we are constantly on the look out for unique and unusual catering concepts that, with our expertise, we can adapt to meet the constraints and requirements of transport hubs. With La Placewe are offering travelers the luxury of taking the time to choose the produce themselves, and watch the chef prepare it for them on-the-spot right in front of their eyes.”
Areas inaugurated the first La Place catering outlets in France, with the launch of a kiosk format at the Gare de Nord railway station, and the opening of two La Place restaurants at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles exhibition center and at Gare L’Est station. In Spain, Areas will shortly be opening two new brands in the Madrid-Bajaras and Barcelona-El Prat airports.
