During renovation of Hall2 in the Gare de Lyon in Paris, Areas aimed to combine a range of offers in order to incorporate the major travel retail trends, including city-center stores in the station, merging fashion retail with traditional stores, developing non-merchant services, such as a concierge services, WiFi and use of iPads.
To change the image of motorway service areas and to make them welcoming and relaxing spaces where motorists choose to stop for pleasure – that is the goal Areas set itself. Eden – the service area of the future. Located on the A6 motorway, the La Chaponne service area is 213km from Paris on the road to Lyon. The architecture and lay-out of the service area were entirely designed from a futuristic perspective by talented designer Ora-Ïto. The La Chaponne service area combines retail outlets and services in a completely new way, in the first eco-designed HQE-certified motorway building.
